Today sees the release of the A-Team feature film, the latest in a long line of Cult 70s and 80s TV shows to be given a Hollywood makeover.
Despite my better judgement, I find myself making a date to go and watch it, but not because I’m a child of the 80s and still a closet A-Team fan; I just have an overwhelming curiosity to see how this retro classic is played out on the big screen!
Will Liam Neeson do justice to Hannibal’s brilliant one-liners? Will Bradley Cooper reignite that schoolgirl crush that Dirk Benedict first evoked? Has Quinton Jackson got the nuts to be a convincing B.A. Baracus?
But also, what will be made of the classic TV Theme that little boys still hum to themselves whilst playing Army in the playground? Will the voiceover be the same, or will the words be changed?
The theme tune is the lasting legacy of all the biggest retro TV shows; Starsky & Hutch, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Incredible Hulk to name a few, but what part do they play in their Hollywood reworkings? Do they become a distant memory once the Box Office opens its doors?
Mastermix Digital currently hosts over 900 original TV themes available to download from just 50p, including both the TV theme the full length original soundtrack and loads of beds and incidental music from the original TV show, so why not take a listen for yourself and reminisce on the time you first heard that immortal line..
“I love it when a plan comes together!”
